Handles for Glass Doors: what are your options?

When selecting handles for glass doors, the most common option is a pull handle, typically installed as a back-to-back pair on either side of the glass. Unlike timber doors, glass panels cannot support screw-fixed handles — they must be securely fixed through the glass using specialist fixings.

Our range covers back-to-back pull handles, single-sided handles with decorative caps, and full-height feature handles for large glass doors. Every handle is UK manufactured in our Nottingham workshop with custom centres, custom lengths and project-specific finishes available.

Pull handles for glass doors

Four core profiles cover the majority of glass-door applications. All four are available with F2 back-to-back or F2A single-sided fixings, in stainless steel, aluminium, brass or RAL-matched powder coat.

Why Ash for Glass

Engineered for glass-specific installation

Back-to-back bolt-through

F2 fixing clamps a matched pair of handles through the glass for maximum strength — the load is balanced across both sides of the panel.

Nylon glazing pads

Every kit ships with nylon pads that sit between handle and glass. They spread the clamping load and prevent metal-to-glass stress points.

8–25

Suits 8–25mm glass

Standard F2 / F2A kits cover all common toughened-glass thicknesses, from 10mm partition glass to 19mm structural shopfronts.

Specifier FAQ

Glass door handles — frequently asked

How are pull handles fixed to glass doors?+
Pull handles are fixed to glass doors using bolt-through fixings that pass through pre-drilled holes in the glass. The most common method is a back-to-back pair using our F2 fixing kit, which clamps both handles together through the glass and is supplied with nylon glazing pads to protect the surface. For single-sided handles, the F2A kit uses a decorative cap on the reverse side. Hole size is typically 18mm in diameter.
What thickness of glass can I fit handles to?+
Our F2 and F2A glass fixing kits are designed for toughened glass between 8mm and 25mm thick. Most commercial entrance doors use 10mm or 12mm toughened glass, and our standard fixings cover this range without modification. For thicker glass — such as 19mm or 25mm structural glass — we can supply extended bolts on request. Always specify the glass thickness when placing your order.
Do you supply glazing pads?+
Yes — every F2 and F2A glass fixing kit is supplied with nylon glazing pads (sometimes called rubber gaskets) that sit between the handle and the glass surface. These pads spread the clamping load evenly, prevent glass-to-metal contact, and eliminate stress points that could cause the toughened glass to fracture. They are essential to a safe and warranty-compliant installation.
Can I get custom centre sizing?+
Yes. Because we manufacture in the UK at our Nottingham workshop, we can produce any pull handle to bespoke centre-to-centre dimensions to suit your existing pre-drilled glass doors or your specifier drawings. There is no minimum order quantity for custom centres, and lead times for bespoke sizes are typically 2–3 weeks. Provide the centres, overall length and diameter when requesting a quote.
What finishes work for glass shopfronts?+
Satin stainless steel is the most popular finish for glass shopfronts because it resists corrosion, fingerprints and weather exposure better than most alternatives. For high-spec retail or hospitality projects, satin or polished brass and bronze powder-coats add warmth and contrast against clear glass. We also offer RAL-matched powder coatings (RAL 9005 black and RAL 7016 anthracite are common choices) to coordinate with aluminium shopfront framing.
