What do I need to know before ordering my vision panel?

  • A door vision panel is a glazed section installed within a door to allow visibility through the door without opening it. Vision panels are commonly used in commercial buildings, schools, hospitals and offices where visibility and safety are important.

By allowing people to see through the door before opening it, vision panels help to:

    • prevent collisions in corridors

    • improve safety in busy areas

    • allow supervision of rooms

    • increase natural light

Vision panels are often installed in timber doors, fire doors and commercial doors and are typically fitted with safety glass or fire-rated glazing depending on the door type.

  • Vision panels can be manufactured in a range of sizes depending on the door type and building requirements. our standard round vision panels come in three sizes but we can manufacture bespoke sizes when required.

Larger panels are often used in schools and healthcare environments where greater visibility is required for safety.

  • Fire-Rated Vision Panel Information

Ash Door Furniture can supply vision panels with 30-minute or 60-minute fire-rated glass options, together with compatible fire-rated seals and gaskets designed for use within fire door applications.

Please note that the overall fire performance of any door assembly is dependent upon multiple factors including:

    • The door manufacturer’s specification

    • The door core construction

    • Installation method

    • Aperture preparation

    • Glazing system compatibility

    • Correct fitting procedures

Unless otherwise stated, Ash Door Furniture does not certify the complete vision panel assembly as fire-rated. Fire certification applies only where the full door set and glazing system have been tested and approved as a complete assembly in accordance with relevant fire safety standards.

It is the responsibility of the installer, contractor, and project specifier to ensure:

    • Suitability for the intended application

    • Compliance with current UK fire regulations

    • Compatibility with the relevant fire door manufacturer’s certification and installation requirements

We strongly recommend that all fire door glazing installations are carried out by qualified professionals in accordance with current industry regulations and best practice guidelines.

  • Vision panels are particularly common in:

    • schools

    • hospitals

    • offices

    • commercial kitchens

    • public buildings

In schools and healthcare settings, vision panels help staff monitor rooms without entering them and reduce the risk of accidents in busy corridors.

They are often combined with other door hardware such as:

to protect the door surface and improve usability.
