Large Pull Handles
Made for monumental doors
From 1200mm up to 3000mm and beyond. Bespoke diameters, brand-matched finishes, third fixing points engineered in as standard. Built in our Nottingham workshop.
Hardware that matches the scale of the architecture
Entrance doors are the first thing people touch. On flagship retail fronts, hotel lobbies, theatre entrances and signature commercial buildings, a standard 600mm handle disappears against a 3m door. Oversized pulls restore proportion and intent.
We manufacture large entrance pull handles from our Nottingham workshop for architects, shopfitters and main contractors specifying hardware for hospitality, retail flagship, civic and high-end residential projects. Every pull is made to a CAD-confirmed drawing, with the bar diameter, post positions and fixing method tailored to the door build-up — not picked from a catalogue.
Because we control the full manufacturing process — from raw bar stock to brushed, polished, PPC or patinated finish — there is no upper limit on length, no compromise on bar wall thickness, and no off-the-shelf joint to fail in year three.
D-handle profile
From 1200mm to 3000mm and beyond
Standard increments below. Anything in between — or longer — is made to your specification, with a third or fourth fixing point added when the bar length and weight demand it.
"Match the handle length to the door height for visual balance. As a guide: 2400mm doors take 800–1200mm pulls; pivot and feature doors beyond that suit handles 1200mm and up."
Four large-pull profiles, endlessly configurable
All four are available in lengths from 1200mm. Bar diameters scale with length — 32mm and 38mm for slim bars, 50mm and 63mm for monumental.
Four fixing methods.
Drawings sent before manufacture.
Long pulls need more than a thread and a hope. We confirm the fixing method on the drawing before a single bar is cut, so the door fabricator, shopfitter and glazier all know what they are getting.
- Back-to-back bolt-throughHandles on both faces, mechanically connected through the door for the strongest hold.
- Hidden in the glazing rebateFor frameless glass and ALUK / Schueco shopfront doors — fixings vanish inside the rebate.
- Face fixingSingle-sided mounting where the rear face is push-plate or undisturbed.
- Third & fourth fixingsAdded automatically on pulls 1800mm+ to eliminate flex and isolate vibration.
Material choice shapes the entrance
ALUK London Showroom — ASH103, fully bespoke
For the ALUK London Showroom entrance, Ash supplied a pair of 1500mm ASH103 D-handles in satin stainless, hidden-fixed through the glazing rebate of the frameless glass door. The cranked post profile delivered the architectural statement the showroom brief called for without breaking the clean sightline of the frame.
View Case StudiesThe questions architects ask us
What's the longest pull handle Ash can make?
There is no fixed upper limit. We regularly manufacture pulls from 1200mm through 2400mm and have produced full-height feature handles beyond 3000mm for hospitality, retail flagship and theatre entrance projects. Above 1800mm we will specify a third fixing point as standard, and above 2400mm a fourth, to eliminate any flex and ensure the bar transfers load cleanly into the door across its full length.
What diameter bar should I specify for a tall door?
As a working rule, scale the bar diameter to the door height and handle length. On 2100–2400mm doors with 800–1200mm pulls, a 32mm bar reads well. On 2400mm+ doors with 1500–1800mm pulls move to 38mm. For monumental doors with 2000mm+ pulls we recommend 50mm or 63mm — these read in proportion at distance and give the grip weight expected on hospitality, civic and flagship retail entrances. For pulls over 2000mm we also recommend adding a third or fourth fixing point to eliminate flex.
Can large pulls be fitted to glass shopfront doors?
Yes — and most of the large pulls we ship go on glass. The two most common methods are back-to-back through the glass with bolt-through fixings (F2 kits) or single-sided fixed with a concealed cap (F2A kits), or hidden fixings through the glazing rebate on aluminium-framed shopfront doors (ALUK, Schueco, Reynaers and similar). We confirm glass thickness, frame profile and bottom rail dimensions on the drawing before manufacture so the fixing kit ships with the handle.
Do you supply matching push plates for large pulls?
Yes. Where the pull is fitted single-sided, we supply a matching push plate in the same material and finish for the reverse face — full-height push plates available to mirror the visual line of the handle. Plate size, hole pattern and engraving (room number, brand logo, accessibility symbol) is confirmed at the quote stage. Browse the full push and kick plate range or include the requirement on your quote request.
What's the lead time for a 2400mm pull?
Standard lead time for a 2400mm bespoke pull handle in stainless or PPC finish is 2–4 weeks from drawing approval. Brass, bronze and patinated finishes add 1–2 weeks for the finishing house. Solid timber pulls (ASH523) run 5–7 weeks because the timber sleeve is hand-finished. If you're on a critical-path programme, flag it on the quote — we can prioritise manufacture and have shipped 1800mm+ pulls inside three weeks for site-critical openings.
